channels-first shape (N, C, H, W)

Also written: (C, H, W), (H, W, C), NCHW

The axis order PyTorch image layers expect: batch, channels, height, width. Pillow and NumPy images are (H, W, C), so `permute` reorders them and `unsqueeze(0)` adds the batch axis.
