IdP (identity provider)

Also written: identity provider, IdPs

The trusted service that checks who you are (password, MFA, passkey) and then vouches for you to apps. Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace and Keycloak are IdPs. It concentrates risk: if it is down nobody works, and if it is taken over every app is exposed.
