TLS (Transport Layer Security)
Also written: TLS, TLS 1.2, TLS 1.3
The layer between TCP and an app protocol that gives encryption, integrity and authentication using certificates. HTTPS, IMAPS and LDAPS are plain HTTP, IMAP and LDAP wrapped in TLS.
