usable hosts

Also written: usable host addresses, 2^h − 2, first usable address

The addresses in a subnet that hosts may use: with h host bits there are 2^h addresses, minus the network and broadcast addresses, so 2^h − 2 (62 for a /26). The router usually gets the first usable one.
