curl

Also written: curl -v, curl -I, curl -w, curl.exe

A tool that fetches a URL and so tests the service itself. -v shows every step, -I shows only the headers, -w prints the status code and timing, and -m sets a time limit. Its errors include 6 (could not resolve the name), 7 (refused) and 28 (timed out).
