IAL (identity assurance level)

Also written: IAL1, IAL2, IAL3, identity assurance levels, IALs

NIST's three levels of confidence that identity proofing gives you. IAL1 gives some confidence, IAL2 gives high confidence and resists stolen or fake evidence, and IAL3 gives very high confidence, done in person with a trained agent and a biometric.
