MAC address (media access control address)

Also written: MAC, vendor prefix, randomized MAC address, private MAC address

The hardware address of a network card, whose first half is a vendor prefix (b8:27:eb is Raspberry Pi). MAC addresses can be spoofed, and phones often use randomized private MACs that show no vendor.
