BIC (Bayesian information criterion)

Also written: BIC, Bayesian information criterion, bic

A score for a probability model such as a Gaussian mixture that rewards fitting the data well and penalizes extra parameters; lower is better. It gives an opinion on the number of components, not a verdict, and the best number can shift with settings such as `reg_covar`.
